Getting to the port in Santorini only took around 25 mins from Perissa Beach. Try and eat before as it is expensive and not great service there. The ferries can also get delayed as well. There are taxi’s there waiting – but make sure that you have cash, as a lot of them don’t take cards.

I stayed in ‘Pelekita Crete’ which is in between ‘Heraklion town’ and ‘Malia beach’. The area was nice and peaceful – but very remote. My Airbnb apartment was nice but my host was NOT. AVOID staying at ‘PELEKITA FLORA APS’ as the reviews look great and he is an Airbnb Super Host – but has not had a review since 2019 and something has CLEARLY GONE WRONG!!!

Heraklion town is well worth visiting. It is very historical, great for photos and lots of places of interest in Crete, including the Archaeological Museum. Which is an amazing way to spend a few hours for 12 Euros. Malia beach is famous for its nightlife and the last time I was there it did not disappoint!

SANTORINI

If you fly to Santorini airport, the taxi travel costs 30-35 Euros and takes around 20 mins to ‘Perissa Beach’ hotels and restaurants. You can get a spectacular view of Santorini sunrise’s from the beach each morning.

‘Ancient Fira Santorini’ is very close to here and don’t wear sandals though, as the rocks are very slippery, so it’s dangerous if you don’t have the right footwear and if you take the way up to the left as I did lol! The entry to Ancient Fira is only 6 Euros and it is the best place for Instagram shots! You can visit the church and it takes around 30 mins to reach the top (If you take the route to the right).

‘Thira Port’ is around 11 km from Perissa Beach and you can get a taxi there in 20-25 mins for 25 Euros. It was expensive to eat there though – but they did allow you to bring your own drinks aboard the ferry 😉

I tried some very tasty local Greek food in some of the best restaurants in Santorini that were well priced around the beach. Also, an amazing value 12 Euro breakfast buffet very close to where I was staying! ‘Anny Studios Santorini’ is close to the beach for a great price, they have very friendly staff and are highly rated on Airbnb as well!

(I’d recommend 5-7 nights stay)
