Larnaca: You can fly to Cyprus from a lot of places directly. I flew from Rhodes (Via Athens) in under 4 hours. You can also fly there from the UK directly for a pretty reasonable price in under 5 hrs. CASH IS KING like Greece – so make sure you have some on arrival. The taxi drivers are either really rude or really helpful! Airbnb’s are the best value here and I found one for 20 Euros per night with good WIFI connection speed to do work for 10+ days. The Marina was 2k away and it was very inspiring to watch the sunrise and eventually train after my 2 fractured toes were better. I even trained on the beach on Xmas day to make up for lost time, I stayed at ‘Rise Hotel Larnaca’ and was treated like a King for only 35 Euros per night!!! There are loads of places of interest you can visit whilst you are there and they only cost 2.50-4 Euro’s wherever you go.
Limassol: You can take the bus from Larnaca to Limassol for only 4 Euros and it takes just over an hour. Make sure you have data and monitor the stop – as I kept asking the driver if we had arrived in Limassol and he kept saying no, even when people were getting off and long story short a group of us ended up at the New Port 2 miles away from the centre. I stayed in ‘Navaria Hotel Limassol’ for 40 Euros per night. It was very average and far away from most places of interest in Cyprus. They did have pretty decent breakfast and room service options though. I changed after 4 nights to ‘Lima Sol House’, a hostel with private rooms that I found on Hostelworld with free cancellation. Again, it was pretty average for 30 Euros per night – but at least I had access to a kitchen, as there was not a fridge in the hotel rooms or even a kettle.
Paphos Is the best part of Cyprus I visited. Again, you can take the bus from Limassol to Paphos for only 4 Euros and it takes just over an hour. The last stop is pretty central, so you won’t end up miles away if you don’t have international data. I found an Airbnb for 30 Euros per night and it was BIG – but it was 3k away from most places of interest in Paphos. The Wifi speed was very strong and it made working remotely a lot easier than Limassol! I walked through the Old Town in Paphos to get to the port and it was a great experience with lots to see history and culture wise. I visited Paphos Castle, the Archaeological Site of Nea (famous for its ancient mosaics from the 3rd century BC). ‘The Tombs of the Kings Paphos’ was absolutely mind blowing and I won’t go into detail – as you should definitely experience it first hand. It was only 2.50 and I covered around 20k on my last day…
